We all know…..right?!…..how ancient symbols throughout history have been twisted and misused to manipulate and abuse us.
Well I have always felt sceptical about the way they interpreted The Three Wise Monkeys’s “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”.
Very easily it can be used to shut the mouths of people that are being abused in one way or another….to take away their voices.
After a little bit of questioning of this interpretation and reading into the subject yourself you find that the original meaning of the ancient symbol dismantles the power of the ones that are trying to control.
During my first visit in Japan, back in April 2005, I saw this man being unaware of the cherry blossom petal resting on his head. This inspired me and so I made a photo of it. Now finally I knew where to place that in one of my works.
